The ID Wrist Band Your loved one with Dementia may Need Today
Wandering is a major problem for those with dementia. We hear about it everyday. The older lady or gentleman who leaves their home for a stroll but never returns.
Sometimes they’re found a few streets away. Sometimes they are never found. And sometimes, unfortunately, they are found where they’ve wandered too far in the freezing cold or dark of night and lost their life.
When a loved one with dementia walks away from their home they only intend to go for a short walk. But for someone with Alzheimer’s or dementia of any kind, the territory can become unfamiliar and confusing as soon as they leave their own front yard.
There are many tools to help with “wandering;” including Cell Phones and Tennis Shoes with GPS, necklaces and bracelets with ID’s built into USB cards. The biggest problem is that all of these devices can be removed from the person who needs them most.
Some of the newer devices may give us a false sense of security. But if it can be removed easily by the elderly person, there is nothing to stop them from doing so. A person with dementia can forget why he/she would need an identification tool.
A few things the ID for your loved one may need
- Is it comfortable, so they have no need to remove it.
- Does the bracelet or necklace contain enough information so that anyone can contact you.
- Newer wrist bands will hold a small memory card
. This can be a necessity if your loved one needs instructions for special medical care.
Below are a few of the handy Medical ID Bracelets and Necklaces available today
Hello,
My mother has successfully removed the ‘hard to remove’ ID bracelets.
I have searched, but I haven’t found one that is truly non-removable by the patient.
Does such an ID bracelet exist, and if so, where?
Thanks!
I’m not certain about those bracelets. Perhaps mecl;ace wpi;d be better fpr her. I hope someone else may have a better idea as well.

Actually, a necklace might be better with her name and address on some type of chain. She couldn’t get it off,
Thanks for checking,
Sandy
How can I get a medical ID bracelet for my mom at no cost please help she has Alzheimer’s .
The links don’t seem to be working. I have one of these for my mother, but need it updated.
The only thing I can think is that this business no longer exists. None of their links are working now. I have added a few more necklaces and bracelets and have removed those broken links. Thank you so much for letting me know.

Hello. I was wondering how I could get one for my day. We live in Italy.
Thanks
Hello Sylvia,
Did you try clicking on the links in that article. I believe they would ship to Italy as well. I don’t make the wristbands here, but if you check with those folks through their link– they may ship to Italy also.
I’m glad you enjoyed the article and hope they are able to get a wristaband to you.
