Flu Shots still available and often at Reduced Rates

Flu Shots are Still Available – Check for reduced ratesĀ
Flu shots available

If you don’t get your flu-shot during the fall shot-clinic months, you might want to check the distribution centers near you for excess reserves of the flu vaccine. Usually Pharmacies, Dr. Office, etc.

A couple years ago, I called my own pharmacy to renew a prescription and the voice mail gave a pre-recorded urgent message to “receive flu shots at reduced rates!” Sorry, I already got mine.

The good news about the call was– the reduced rate was more than half of the original price that hubby and I had paid a couple months earlier. I believe hubby and I paid near $25 at the time of our shots several months ago, today the shots are being offered in the Desert Southwest for a low $12.00.

I did check when I picked up my prescription and it seems that Retailers and doctors increased the inventories of flu vaccine after shortages a few years ago. Turns out, they may have made too great a supply–hence, the large reduction in price in most areas. So if you haven’t gotten your flu shot, I’d check with a pharmacy near you for these reduced rates.

The flu may be declining later in the year, but I just spoke with my brother and sister-in-law over the weekend and they were both sick with fluish symptoms. Hopefully not the “real” flu. So check your pharmacy–and if you’re a caregiver for someone else, be sure that they’ve received their vaccination. The flu is not a good thing to cope with if you already have another illness.
