The Alzheimer’s Association has a valuable program to help those diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease and their Caregiver. Called “Care Consultants,” they are available to answer questions you or your family may have. They can also help to create a plan tailored just for you as you navigate through the journey of Alzheimer’s.
Help is only a phone call away once you become a part of the ongoing Alzheimer’s Association Consultant Care Program. Not only are they available for questions you may have but they also offer understanding, encouragement, and peace of mind, all invaluable to someone who has Alzheimer’s or is caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s.
Through this program the person with Alzheimer’s will receive follow up appointments, Memory Tests, and advice for their caregiver as well. Though they will not give medical advice, they can verify prescriptions and be a valuable advocate while working with your doctor to make sure your prescriptions are working to your benefit. They can offer advice on exercise and help with other issues of Alzheimer’s such as insomnia.
The Alzheimer’s Care Consultants can be an indispensable service. So reaching out for this service after a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s may be the single-most important thing you or your loved one can do. If your loved one cannot make the call, you can call for them.
